When shopping for a toddler it’s easy to get confused, trying to decide what type of gift they will actually enjoy. A lot of the choice will depend on what the child’s personality is like, but there are a few general gift ideas that are quite popular and most often well enjoyed by the toddler.

One type of gift that is usually popular with two and three year olds are cartoon character toys seen on direct.tv kid’s shows. Toddlers enjoy these because they recognize the character from watching them on the television. Because so many of the cartoons are now geared towards not only entertaining a toddler, but educating them as well, this makes toy buying even better. Most toys have some sort of learning theme, mixed in with the play factor. If you are purchasing a toy for a toddler in your family, or the child of a friend or co-worker, ask the parent what cartoon the child enjoys the most. You’ll likely find that character in a variety of educational toys in almost any department store.

Toddlers also enjoy using a hands-on approach when playing, along with using their imaginations. This is good thing to realize when trying to shop for a toddler gift. Modeling clay can be a perfect birthday gift for a three or four year old. It not only allows them to use their imagination to create something unique, but can also keep them busy in a safe way. Modeling clay will dry if left out in the air, so an image of the child’s hand can be a great gift for the toddler to give to a grand parent too. Add a set of water color paints to the modeling clay, and the toddler can be kept occupied for hours, while really enjoying and making use of the gift.

The Right Attire for Club Hopping

When going club hopping, you want to look chic and trendy, yet feel comfortable in your clothes. While what someone wears is a personal decision based on their comfort level and their body type, there are several trends that look great on everyone. Here are a few examples.

Sleeveless Vests

Whether a man or a woman, a sleeveless vest is a great way to stay cool and still look trendy. Paired over a sequined tank for women, or over a cotton tank or graphic tee for a man, sleeveless vests are a must-have item for summer 2011. Tailored pants or skirts for women are preferred as many clubs ask for no jeans or loose-fitting clothing. Republic clothes offer many pieces that would work great with this look.

Dress Shoes

It’s important that one is comfortable when going from club to club. However, most clubs have strict dress codes so men should always wear polished dress shoes, while women should opt for heels. Designer shoes are a great choice as clubbing encourages the elite to show off their wardrobe and shoe collection. Make sure your shoes are properly cleaned before stepping into line to enter a club.

A button-down dress shirt is always a sure thing for a man going club hopping. Ultimately, clothing for men is diverse to fit the needs of each man and his individual style. This means that there are a variety of styles and cuts of button-down’s that will satisfy nearly any man looking for an outfit to go out clubbing. Following 2011′s Prom Dress Trends

Prom is an event that every girl dreams about her entire time in high school. She dreams about what type of dress she’ll wear, what limo she’ll ride in, who her date is and what after prom activities she attends. Even with the 2011 prom season behind everyone, girls in their junior year are starting to think about what type of dresses they will wear for their prom next year.

Prom styles slow change over the years, so what is popular one year is typically popular the next. Here’s a look at some popular trends for prom dresses for 2011 and what people may see in 2012.

Bright Hot Colors

The year 2011 saw an increase in the amount of prom dresses that were made out of bright, hot neon colors. It was not uncommon to see a bright, hot pink, orange, purple or green dress on display for prom dresses.

Short Skirts

Prom dresses are typically floor length but 2011 saw the level of the skirt rise. Many prom dresses had hemlines that many adults would consider risqué. While there were plenty of knee length and longer dresses, short skirts were what was hot for 2011.

Sparkly Sequins

To add to the bright, neon colors many of 2011′s prom dresses were layered in sequins and sparkly items. Dresses were embellished with sequins on the top and sleeves, and even sewn into the lining of the dresses. These sequins really made you sparkle and shine when wearing it.

While there is no telling what the future holds, if the trends for prom dresses for 2011 are any indication, 2012 will be filled with bright colors and sparkly dresses.

New This Season from Jean-Paul Gaultier

Jean-Paul Gaultier, the French couture designer, who rose to the top of his game in the mid-80s and a 90s is back on top this season.   Best known as one of Madonna’s preferred designers, most people remember him for Madonna’s cone-bra featured in the 1990 Blond Ambition Tour. He is also known for bringing kilts (man skirts) back into fashion.

Gaultier, who has had no formal training, got his first break as an assistant to famed designer Pierre Cardin.  In went on to work with Jean Patou and Jacques Esterel.  Among his many achievements, Gaultier was one of the first designers to use full-figured models on the runway.

This year we see actresses like Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, and  Naomi Watts wearing his designs.  Featured in this year’s collection was the ripped and torn effect, combined with beaded tops and silk-draped skirts.   Some of the Gaultier’s 2011 line  also includes square-shouldered jackets, nautical stripes, biker jackets and even a metal breastplate.  Known throughout the industry for his trench coats, this year’s line features accordion pleats.

The success of Gaultier’s line this year is the jewel in the fashion year that features a Gaulteir retrospective at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.  The exhibit entitled “From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” is scheduled to run from June 17 through October 2.  The exhibit celebrates thirty-five years of the Gaultier label.  Look for the exhibit to travel to the Dallas Museum of Art in November and to the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco in March 2012.

Shopping for wedding rings can be a long process. You and your fiance will be wearing them for the rest of your lives, so it is important to decide on rings that you will both enjoy wearing. Here are a few tips to help you decide on the perfect wedding rings.

Compare the rings to the original engagement ring. Traditionally, wedding rings match the engagement ring so the woman can wear both of them together. While you shop, talk to an employee and ask them what they would recommend. They should be able to tell you what would match well and is within your budget.

Visit a variety of jewelers. You may want to start with the store you bought the engagement ring from, but you also want to visit a variety of jewelers. Every jewelry store has plenty of different styles. Visiting several different locations will give you more variety to choose from.

Sometimes you cannot tell if you are going to like a ring just by looking at it. It may look beautiful inside a case, but once you try it on it is not what you thought it would be. Try on plenty of rings because you never know what you will like better.

Shop with your fiance so you can decide together which wedding rings you like. Typically your ring and your fiance will match, so you want to make sure you will both be comfortable with the rings you decide on.

There are many trends each season, and for some, the trends that are the most fun to follow are those of fashion accessories.

In fashion, accessories cover everything that is not the actual articles of clothing, themselves. Shoes, jewelry, scarves, handbags, and more are considered accessories. There are trends to follow in each of these areas and more.

One of the most popular and overwhelming trends recently has been in the handbag area of accessories. Handbags have recently gotten bigger, brighter, and bolder. Women are showing off their personalities simply by showing off their handbags. A handbag or purse can say a lot about a person. For example, if you only carry around a very small handbag in a neutral or muted tone, people may see you as someone who is only interested in the necessary. What’s in Style for Summer?

This spring and summer, fashion will be taking a new turn.  Many clothing lines are offering new selections based on intriguing colors and patterns.  No matter the shopper’s preference, there will be something for everyone.

 

For women, colors can be bright, muted, or in stark contrast within the same outfit.  Really, anything goes.  Many people are gravitating toward lighter hues such as white, cream, beige, and light brown tones.  Of course, these neutral colors work easily in many situations and on many body types, so they are easily the favorite with a variety of shoppers.  For the bolder image, bright colors such as orange combined with contrasting black and white patterns can accent curves or hide undesirable features with ease.

When the summer heat rolls around, it’s time to peel off those extra layers, revel in the sun, and fill up steamy nights with fun that goes on into the wee hours of the morning.
